Poster Analysis - The Breakfast Club (1985)

In this poster the audience is introduced to the main characters of the movie as they are the main focus on the poster. The group of teenagers are shown as having very different styles and from this you can assume that they have different personalities as well. So the attention is only on the group of teenagers they are placed on a very soft gradient background.

At the top of the poster is a phrase that read 'They only met once, but their lives changed forever' this would suggest that the film follows the stereotypes of Coming of Age Dramas as it hints that the characters change and develop as the movie goes on. The paragraphs underneath allow the audience to start to understand the characters as they have all been given labels form which you can guess what their personalities and traits will be like.

At the bottom of the poster you can see that the movie has been rated R, because it depicts people smoking marijuana. This follows the stereotype of coming of age dramas as a narrative point most of the movies in this genre use is the use of drugs.

I like the bold phrase at the top of the poster as it grabs your attention, if I decided to make a Theatrical poster for my trailer this is a feature I would try and include as I think it helps engage the audience.
